I went to University College Dublin to study agricultural science – this included studying subjects like biochemistry, biology, soils, animal and plant nutrition and genetics. Many people go here if they want to become a farm advisor or agricultural scientist and do further research in agriculture.

There is also the option to go to agricultural college after school where you also do some of the subjects mentioned above but there is more emphasis on the practical aspects of farming. There is several agricultural colleges around Ireland; many people go to agricultural college to become a farmer but whether you go to an agricultural college or study agricultural science in University you still receive a farmer qualification (called the Green Cert).

I am inspired to see this question popping in my dashboard. In contrast, the students are talking about artificial intelligence and virtual experience and so on. I am happy to see someone interested in agriculture. You can get educated yourself on crops cultivation, animal husbandry, soil requisites and so on. I feel that if you have a technology study linked with agriculture, it is even more enjoyable. My father – being a farmer, insisted on joining in crop processing technology after my schooling, but I have joined in chemical engineering. Indeed, learning agriculture with technological insight is worth and demanding, I suppose.

I did not attend agricultural college, but Environmental Sciences. It was really cool, because I learned about many different things, from plants and animals to law and project management.
